Overview

In November 2021, Dr. Mark Maritz was invited as Guest Speaker and Faculty Instructor at the Arthrex Aspetar Lab Programme in Doha, Qatar — hosted at Aspetar Hospital, the world-renowned orthopaedic and sports medicine center dedicated to the care of elite professional athletes. Joining a distinguished international faculty that included Pieter D’Hooghe, Jordi Vega, Luke Cicchinelli, Bruno Olory, and others, Dr. Maritz contributed across a full two-day cadaveric training programme covering ankle arthroscopy, ligament repair and reconstruction, Achilles and FHL procedures, Lisfranc fixation, and minimally invasive foot surgery.

The programme was structured as a hands-on rotation model, with delegate groups cycling through each cadaveric station — ensuring maximum procedural exposure for all participants. Dr. Maritz guided delegates through technically demanding techniques in both ankle arthroscopy and MIS forefoot surgery, sharing the clinical experience and practical insights that have defined his practice. The event also included rotation through the Arthrex Expo, providing delegates with exposure to the latest instrumentation and fixation systems in a purpose-built educational environment.
